IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN TERMS OF RELIGION:

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN RELIGION: Importance of education in ISLAM: Like our society, Islam one of the biggest religion in the world, also seeks the education much important. In Islam Education is considered as a sacred obligation. Education means to seek knowledge and seeking knowledge is everyone’s moral duty. This obligation is not restricted to only Muslims of the world, but also to the every nation, every man, woman of the world. This education is necessary for humanity. That’s why Islam emphasizes so much about Education. Importance of education is reflected by the following verses of Holy Koran. Surah Al-Zumr, ayah 9 reveals: "Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know?" Surah Al-Baqarah, ayah 269 reveals: "Allah grants wisdom to whom He pleases and to whom wisdom is granted indeed he receives an overflowing benefit." Now if we put our considerations to first verse, then we can see that Almighty ALLAH is throwing a question to us. “Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know?" Obviously, our answer is, “they are not equal”. The man who is educated is like a “light house” in the society. People lay heap praise on them. But those people who are illiterate are ignorant and a burden over humanity. This education is the greatest gift. No man becomes truly a man without knowing the meaning of importance of education. This knowledge is the utmost gift of Allah. Allah’s most wanted and much beloved prophet also being made a “preacher for the world”. A person without knowledge is like someone walking along a track in complete darkness. Islam not only preaches “Islamic education”, but also preaches for the other intellectual education. Every one of us, young or old, man or woman, should at least acquire sufficient knowledge to enable ourselves to understand the essence of importance and power of education. That makes us liberal and open minded. No great amount of time is required to acquire this simple knowledge. Knowledge is identified in Islam as worship. The acquiring of knowledge and for travelling for knowledge is considered as a “adoration”. The practice of knowledge is connected with ethics and morality? With promoting virtue and combating vice, enjoining right and forbidding wrong. Not only should we seek knowledge, but when we learn it, it becomes obligatory on us to practice it. Knowledge without action is useless because a learned person without action will be the worst of creatures on the Day of Resurrection. Knowledge should be followed and practiced with humility and leads to beauty, dignity, freedom and justice.
