OPENING:
Life has taken hundreds of years and millions of lives to attain the present level of civilization. There was a time when man lived like animals. It was the prescience period. These were the dark days of illiteracy and savage warfare, then science came to the rescue of man. It worked wonders in different fields like education, medicine, electronics and agriculture. Science, education and ________ have made up the modern life so beautiful and comfortable. Fatal diseases have become curable. Science has helped man in facing the challenges of life.

We are
enjoying comforts of life. Facilities surround us. But alack, we are thirsting
for what was to be the real ultimate fruit of science, namely “peace”.
Peace is
the supreme beauty of life. Without peace, all comforts and facilities of life are
useless. The most unfortunate thing is that our life has lost much of its
worth. Abuse of science, undemocratic attitudes of governments and abuse of
power, and above all, terrorism have poisoned life.
Today we
are leading a life full of threats. The dangers of Third World War are hovering
over our heads. Is this the blessing of science? Is it the light of knowledge? Can
we call it progress? Have we risen above animal level or fallen below them?
Mark Twain is very right in questioning man’s superiority to animals.
very good for students......................................
